About
I am Head of the Orthopaedic Department and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust.
Shoulder:
I perform the vast majority of operations using arthroscopic (keyhole surgery) techniques. This includes operations such as arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic stabilisation for dislocation, arthroscopic shoulder decompression, arthroscopic AC joint excision, arthroscopic biceps (SLAP) repair, and arthroscopic capsular release for frozen shoulder etc. Key-hole surgery greatly reduces postoperative pain, scarring and recovery time. I also regularly perform shoulder replacements.
Elbow:
I perform arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures of the elbow. I perform surgery for tennis and golfer’s elbow. I also perform ulnar nerve decompression at the elbow and treat sports injuries such as biceps tendon ruptures.
Wrist:
I perform surgery for ganglion cysts, wrist denervations, percutaneous and open fixation of scaphoid bone fractures and fixation of other complex wrist fractures.
Hand:
I am also referred complex sports injuries and other injuries of the upper limb such as shoulder dislocations and fractures by my colleagues. I treat many of these using the latest methods of minimal invasive fixation (key-hole surgery), greatly reducing operative trauma and speeding recovery.
I have undertaken advanced Fellowship training in Shoulder and Upper Limb Surgery in London. I also trained in Upper Limb Surgery in Southampton and Portsmouth. I have extensive experience in Arthroscopic Surgery of the shoulder and, since my appointment as Consultant in 2005, have pioneered advanced shoulder arthroscopy techniques at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
